Mavic Aksium versus Gipiemme Techno 024

Hi.

I am buying a new bike and can choose between these two wheelsets:

Mavic Aksium

Gipiemme Techno 024

The Gipiemme ones look coolest, but of course I want the best.

Can anyone help me with what to chose?

Personally I'd go for the Mavics. I've got a pair of Gipiemme wheels (can't remember the model offhand but they're a cheaper pair than the 024s) and the finish isn't great, the rear cones have failed after less than 2000k, and it's proving a nightmare trying to get hold of replacements – their distributor network is rubbish, certainly in Europe. I've never had any problem with Mavic equipment.

I also haven't heard the best about Gipiemme wheels. I'd go with the Aksiums.

FWIW: I've been riding a pair of the Gipiemme tecno 024's for a couple of years now with no problems at all. They've stayed true, and still roll well. I'm not a light-weight, either!
