  1. Mavic Ksyrium wheels ( the ones with flat spokes) come with 2 spoke tools and a picture with the tools shows one tool on the flat portion of the spoke and the other in the usual place where the spoke meets the rim.

    Dumb Question : in truing the wheel do you need to turn both tools together or is it ne or the other ???

  2. The tool that is on the flat part of the spoke is needed to keep the spoke from turning when you tighten it. Those spokes are "straight pull" type.
    Without anchoring the spoke it would turn in the hub and be misaligned.
    You obviously want to keep that flat spoke in the "aero" position.
