Mavic wheel problem?

I doubt if there is anything wrong with the cassette. How old is the wheel? Usually cassettes 'loosen' up a bit the more mileage put on them while new ones packed with grease are 'tighter'. What is important when you spin the wheel thru the cassette is that you only feel fluid spinning (no matter how short and as long as it's not tight that it stops instantaneaosuly) as opposed to feeling some grinding vibes. Also, cartridge bearinged cassettes stop sooner than ball-bearing ones.

While the wheel was removed and went to spin the the cassette with my hands and noticed that after i spin it it basically stops spinning right away. Sounds like you need to grease the rear hub.

Is the bearing correctly adjusted?

Is it possible that a lighter rim/tyre has less momentum than one that is heavier?
