I'm 24yrs old, 6'1, 189lbs, 10%bf

My PolarS725 watch is telling me my VO2max is 76, but my maxHR is 193???
Using the age calculation (220-24), my maxHR should be 196.

I know the age calculation is just an estimate, but why is my max HR on the lower side?
Is there any way to raise it?
What determine's max HR? just genetics? heart size?

your actual max. heartrate will never increase, but will slowly decrease over the years. Its mainly genetics.

Im the same age and my polar 720i predicted 188. Remember these are predictions. I really wanted to know what my max actually was and I did a test. one hour cycling @approx 80% of your predicted max heart rate, and then in the last ten minutes give it all. I reached 194.

As for the VO2 max thing: its useful but still a prediction. try changing the intensity level at the setup, and your VO2 max prediction can easily vary 10 points (from TOP to HIGH). I use it to track progression, indivually it works, just dont start comapring your VO2 max. with others who did a real lab test...
