The McCourt Foundation is proud to announce the 5th annual Tour de South Shore, a 25-mile and 50-mile rain or shine bike ride along the scenic south shore to support Alzheimer’s and Multiple Sclerosis research on Saturday, October 4, 2014.
Teams and individual riders, along with volunteers, are welcome to register at www.TourdeSouthShore.org. Prizes and awards will be presented to top fundraisers and Bertucci’s will provide lunch for all participants.
Both courses will begin and end at Wompatuck State Park in Hingham, MA and will pass through neighboring towns Cohasset, Scituate and Norwell. All participants are encouraged to compete at their own pace, and there is no fundraising minimum required to enter. The 50-mile ride starts at 7:30 AM and the 25-mile ride starts at 8:30 AM.
The McCourt Foundation background:
The McCourt family lost their father to multiple sclerosis after being diagnosed in the prime of his life and after fighting the disease for 42 years finally succumbing to it at the age of 67. Soon after his death, their mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and she passed away in August 2008. For the past 22 years, the McCourt Foundation and their committee of colleagues and friends have run successful fund raising events including the McCourt Gala and Auction, Boston Marathon Team and the Tour de South Shore. The success of these events propelled the family to formally establish the McCourt Foundation in 2004. For more information, please visit www.mccourtfoundation.org.
