That's a positive step. I hope more riders will speak out like this. I wonder if McDumbass will get stung by Cancellara's comments. It will be interesting to see what he will try to do now. Will he try to ban Cancellara somehow, or will he pull strings to target Cancellara in doping tests?

The Belgian federation has already supported officialy french federation. Probably the other big federation would do the same, and McQuaid and Verbruggen should resigned.

They have to go. We need a Gorbechev style reformer now to head UCI.

UCI either need to have a financial stake in professional cycling (that would be unfair and just as much of a conflict of interest), or the UCI needs to broaden beyond National Federations as their only accountability, and include stakeholders and riders in professional cycling.

Or even better, as Bro suggested, set up a new organization with broader representation.

You're talking about a show... dude, a travelling circus. F1 is not a sport responsible for drivers from junior level up. It's a global entertainment machine. Do you think Ecclestone gives a **** about drivers from the ground up? Do you think he would give a turd if drivers were taking PED's?

Crankyfeet - It is a world circuit but I disagree with the circus quip. Sporting events are supposed to be entertaining, competitive and challenging. F1 delivers on these counts. In terms of Junior level, F1World i.e. Ecclestone is not responsible for anything bar F1 as ASO will only be responsible for their group of races and the athletes/teams who take part.

The comparison is really to show how successful interms of a sporting calendar an event organised primarily by a business can be.

Oh and by the way, Hamilton was sponsored by Ron Dennis from McLaren from the age of 11 and prior to that from the age of 7 by F1 related promoters/teams.

Most teams have representation in the junior leagues and this is possible due to the budget available from being part of F1.

And a couple of links explaining FIA and the members. If you are going to demand that UCI dissolves and ASO become the dominant promoter then perhaps we should look towards F1 to find how a balance is achieved between organiser/promoter and regulator.
