York Council is expected to approve plans to convert a listed
sub-station at Lendal Bridge into a secure cycle compound with 100
spaces at a cost of GBP 100,000.

The scheme will include an emergency repair workshop and accessory
shop as well as showers and lockers.

The charge will be GBP 1.00 per day.

A report has recommended that the site be leased to Bike Rescue, a
non-profit organisation run by Andy Scaife and Bernie Cullen.

That seems to be exactly the kind of high quality provision that is needed
in many more places. Well done York.
