There¹s a new, clear voice for cycling advocacy in the City of Melbourne -- Melbourne Bicycle User
Group (BUG). Only three months after starting up, we already have over forty members and we are
beginning to make our voice heard. Our social rides program is underway, our advocacy/campaign
projects are progressing steadily, and there are plans for a series of educational cycling
workshops.

Melbourne BUG's INAUGURAL MEETING will be held on 16 June at 6.30pm at Ross House, 247 Flinders
Lane, Melbourne. ALL CYCLISTS ARE WELCOME! We are hoping for an attendance of 50 or more cyclists,
and the meeting will include presentations from Melbourne BUG's Co-Convenors, Bicycle Victoria and
the City of Melbourne. Plus there will be plenty of time for general discussion about issues of
interest and concern to inner-city cyclists.

Melbourne BUG is a grass-roots group whose goals include:
* to represent the interests of cyclists who ride in the City of Melbourne municipality
* to work with the City of Melbourne, Bicycle Victoria and other groups to improve the local cycling
environment
* to be a forum for cyclists to interact socially
* to organise fun rides and informative cycling workshops

Some of the activities of Melbourne BUG:
* lobbying for safe bicycle routes through the CBD
* making Swanston St cycle friendly
* protecting the rights of cyclists in the inner suburbs
* improving the quality of the Yarra Trail
* better bike parking in busy areas like Lygon St, the Universities & Queen Vic Market
* help produce a clear and accurate inner-city bike map
* raising cycling¹s profile in the city
* social rides & fun cycling occasions
* regular workshops & consultative meetings
* producing a monthly email newsletter

Come along to our Inaugural Meeting on 16 June, and help us make the City of Melbourne a great
place to ride!
