How many mercury thermometers do you suppose have been
dropped in old hospitals and medical centers and swept
under the rugs....so to speak...to poison all who work
there? Not environmentally poisoned? MY ASS!! Maybe
Petey's own "poisoning" is the reason he is so persistent
in his dogma, he may be mad as a "mercury-sizing" hatter.
For example, studies have indicated that children are
toxic with mercury before they even start school, not
because of their orthodonics, but because of all the
mercury injected into them by physicians like Petey who
were "practicing" vaccinations of these children allegedly
to "protect" instead of "poison" them. Of course, children
saturated in mercury through "vaccinations" by Petey 'n'
Co. can't show corroborating effects of relative mercury
poisonings from amalgams advocated and applied by ADA 'n'
Co., and vice versa. My scientific opinion is that this
sounds like a bunch of braying asses covering each
others'(asses).
What does he say about mercury and the vanishingly small
amounts of free vitalethine in the body? There is no
mention of comparisons of experimentally poisoned groups
with legitimate control groups, e.g., those without any
amalgam in their teeth and without any mercury laden
vaccinations, and without any environmental poisoning say
through eating fish (for example), and there is no mention
of long-term studies. That's three. Try coal fired power
plants and the air we breath, the water we drink polluted
by metal mining, the jewelry we wear, factories spewing,
the list goes on and on, even the mirrors and thermostats
in many of our homes. They probably can't even get a
legitimate control group together that has not been
mercury poisoned because governments mandate vaccinations
for their children. Any "amalgam" or "mercury-preserved
vaccination" may saturate the body's vitaletheine with
mercury (~3 ag/ml or 3 fg/kg) so that there is no
correlation with any additional "insults to injuries" from
any "asinine" treatments "alleged" to improve health.
These studies cited appear to be myopically or
intentionally designed to get the results needed to
benefit only the ADA, AMA, FDA, and those others profiting
from putting known poisons in peoples' mouths and bodies
to prey upon their subsequently failing health and
miseries.

Galen is the Vitallethine proponent. He is involved in quite
a few quack ideas, including that there is a conspiracy
against him. He has, I think, a PhD, which appears to have
become a great handicap to some involved in medical studies.
It confers on them a grossly overrated impression of their
competence to pass judgement on medical matters, even if
their PhD studies were done in areas with little or no
overlap with medicine. Galen should also be the last person
to accusing others of holding ideas that are not supported
by any evidence. Read his advice to cancer patients and you
will get what I mean.
The simple refutation of what he states above is that in
most of the studies which fail to show health effects at low
levels of mercury exposure, including in persons with
amalgams, mercury blood levels and/or excretion studies were
performed at the same time to gauge the level of exposure,
and these correlate well with known exposures. They are less
in dentists than chloral alkali workers, for example.. They
are higher in persons with amalgams than those without,
regardless of other exposure, such as fish, as the
antiamalgamists themselves love to point out. So the study
he criticises above is quite valid, through the expectation
that regardless of other exposure, mercury levels in those
with amalgams will be higher. This is what the amalgam
claims are all about, aren't they? IS your thinking impaired
today, Galen, or was your PhD in ancient British history or
Chinese music?
Galen is commenting on research he has clearly not examined,
even though he gives plenty of advice on exposure to heavy
metals, suggesting that he should at one time looked at all
the relevant research.
Of course, the mercury paranoics then claim that "Oh, those
measures don't correlate well with actual mercury exposure
or body content of mercury". Well, they do actually
correlate quite well with symptoms and signs of mercury
toxicity in numerous studies of occupational exposure..

There is widespread concern regarding the safety of silver-
mercury amalgam
dental restorations, yet little evidence to support their
harm or safety. We
examined whether mercury dental amalgams are adversely
associated with
cognitive functioning in a cross-sectional sample of healthy
working adults.
We studied 550 adults, 30-49 years of age, who were not
occupationally
exposed to mercury. Participants were representative of
employees at a major
urban medical center. Each participant underwent a
neuropsychologic test
battery, a structured questionnaire, a modified dental
examination, and
collection of blood and urine samples. Mercury exposure was
assessed using
a) urinary mercury concentration (UHg); b) the total number
of amalgam
surfaces; and c) the number of occlusal amalgam surfaces.
Linear regression
analysis was used to estimate associations between each
marker of mercury
exposure and each neuropsychologic test, adjusting for
potential confounding
variables. Exposure levels were relatively low. The mean UHg
was 1.7 micro
b/g creatinine (range, 0.09-17.8); the mean total number of
amalgam surfaces
was 10.6 (range, 0-46) and the mean number of occlusal
amalgam surfaces was
6.1 (range, 0-19). No measure of exposure was significantly
associated with
the scores on any neuropsychologic test in analyses that
adjusted for the
sampling design and other covariates. In a sample of healthy
working adults,
mercury exposure derived from dental amalgam restorations
was not associated
with any detectable deficits in cognitive or fine motor
functioning.

A prospective population study of women in Gothenburg,
Sweden was started in 1968-69 and comprised 1462 women aged
38, 46, 50, 54, or 60 years at baseline. Follow-up studies
were carried out in 1974-75, 1980-B11, and 1992-93. The
baseline study included an extensive medical and dental
examination. Serum mercury concentration (beta-HG) was
determined in deep-frozen samples from all participants in
1968-69 and in a random subsample of sera from participants
in 1980-81, about 20 years after the baseline examination.
S-Hg was statistically significantly correlated with number
of amalgam fillings at both examinations. Of 30 defined
symptoms and 4 different clusters of symptoms, no one was
independently correlated with S-Hg measured in the samples
from 1968-69, while there was a negative statistically
significant correlation with over-exertion and poor appetite
in 1980-81. Blood hemoglobin and serum B-12 concentrations
in 1968-69 were statistically significantly and positively
correlated with S-Hg, while erythrocyte sedimentation rate
and the serum concentrations of potassium and triglycerides
were significantly and negatively correlated with S-Hg, also
after including potential confounders. Blood hematocrit
examined in 1980-81 was negatively correlated with S-Hg.
When including potential confounders, serum IgA was also
statistically significantly correlated with S-Hg, but not in
univariate analysis. No statistically significant
correlation was observed between S-Hg, on the one hand, and
the incidence of diabetes, myocardial infarction, stroke, or
cancer on the other, while a statistically significant
negative correlation was observed with overall mortality
when age and education were included as background
variables. There were some correlations between biological
variables and S-Hg, probably of no negative clinical
significance, and we conclude that there is no association
between disease and S-Hg on a population basis in middle-
aged and older women.

The authors performed neurological, visual evoked potentials
(VEP) and electroneurography (ENG) examinations on three
groups of workers with occupational exposure to mercury
vapors (Hg(0)), and on a control group. The exposure of
dental professionals (n = 36) was mild, that of chloralkali
plant workers (n = 36) was intermediate, and that of workers
from mercury works (n = 77) was very high. Symptoms and
signs of micromercurialism were observed only in the group
with the highest exposure to Hg(0). In comparison with the
control group, a shortening of VEP latency and a decrease in
amplitude were found in the exposed groups. The VEP changes
correlated with Hg(0) excreted in urine after administration
of a chelating agent - sodium 2,3-dimercapto-1-propan
sulfonate (DMPS). The frequency of abnormal VEP results
increased with increasing levels of exposure. ENG changes
were observed only in the group with the highest exposure to
Hg(0). An isolated decrease of sural nerve conduction
velocity was observed in 18% of total workers. In 70% of the
cases, this was associated with an abnormality in VEP. The
combination of a decrease in sural nerve conduction velocity
and an abnormality of VEP seems to be a characteristic
pattern of electrophysiological changes in persons exposed
