It would be interesting to know how many of those programs support HTML. At one time, it was a cardinal sin to post to usenet in HTML, but now that there are so few users communicating at a teleprinter station, it may be time to lift that ban, and get the advantages of a broader typecase.

It would be nice, for example to be able to underline and italicize, particularly when referring to books and journals.

The downside, of course, is that some people believe that just because Word comes with 150 fonts, they have to use all of them. Their posts would look like ransom notes.

Just a thought,

trn does not. It can ignore html and just print the text, but I'm
still in favor of not using HTML. For one thing, it makes all the
messages longer, and those of us on dialups don't appreciate that.
