  1. I recently had a microfracture technique done on the medial condyle of the left femur, in addition
to partial medial meniscus removal. I have read some good and bad outcomes doing a google search.
Any listers out there w/ personal experience on coming back from this injury. I have been told to
stay on crutches, no weight bearing, for two weeks. Then slow progression to normal activity.
Running in 10 wks. I am a 45 yr old distance triathlete w/ many more ironman goals. I would be most
    interested in personal experience
w/ rehab and back to peak form in 1 yr. Thanx in advance. andy

  2. Andy,

There are some papers written by the developer of the procedure; Dr. Steadman of the Steadman-
Hawkins Clinic in Denver. You can access their site through a "Google" search and find some
    scientific articles on outcomes.

Having been in the Orthopedic sales arena for many years, I have seen this procedure done and what
knowledge I have on it, it has a 50/50 outcome. it all depends on if the new nutrient blood supply
helps fill the damaged or missing cartilage with fibrous cartilage; replacing the damaged hyline
    cartilage.

I would recommend following the surgeons prescribed therapies and take the time to let the new
    tissue "take hold"

    Good Luck
