I have a good dilemma. I'm building up a new bike (Eddy Merckx carbon frameset). For the fact that I don't want to take out a second mortgage to afford Super Record/Record/Chorus/D-A 7900/Red, I'll be instead looking at the mid range groupsets from the three manufacturers.

My prior brand/groupset experience extends to Dura-Ace 7400 and 7700, Ultegra 6500 and the earlier 600 and Mavic SSC (my fav ever). So in my current price range, I'm looking at Campy Athena 11, Centaur 10, Shimano Ultegra SL 6600 and SRAM Force. Without the resources or access to try all the listed groupsets, what are your thoughts? Reliability? Ergonomics? Performance? Opinions on the forum are polarized on each brand, but has anyone tried all or most of the listed groupsets? What would you go with?
