I have been cycling for a few months on a road bike which I haven't been fitted properly (I assume). I have been suffering from mild knee pain lately around the knee cap, and I can feel and hear the click in my knees when I extend them. When I am walking, sometimes I can kinda feel the knee cap has been pulled away from its normal original position. I am suspecting that I might be suffering from Chondromalacia. I am not sure but I have only been cycling for a few months, how could this develop so quickly. What can I do to treat my knees except rests?
That could be from a number of different things, I've had some off-and-on clicking in my right knee since I was 18, a tunnel-view x-ray taken a few months after I discovered it revealed an extra growth of cartilage in the joint that was rubbing on one of the bones so the click was when it popped back into place. The orthopedist who took and read the x-ray gave me an exercise to do to see if it improves, which it did. I may have to start doing that again because it has recently resurfaced.
The exercise was to straighten the leg then contract the quad muscle and hold it for about 10 seconds.
I just got my MRI done today, and my doctor said there is no significant damage in the knee. I have started taking anti-inflammatory pills and glacosimine yesterday.
