You may have already read about the swelling on my right leg that caused me to quit biking. Our family physician also advised me to drink milk at least 3 times a week, if not every day, to strengthen my bones. He said that particularly women, our bones gets denser as we age and that is not good because a dense bone means it is weak. I may not feel it but I drink milk 3 times a week and I think it is doing good on my bones. Drinking milk is better than taking calcium pills.

Milk, Cheeses, Tofu, Nuts and Green Leafy Vegetables are good sources of calcium that helps repair and strengthen bones.

Exercise also plays an important role in having strong bones. Also Vitamins K and D promotes bone density.

Milk is a great source of calcium, and for sure you need it to keep your bones healthy. But it contains fat, or in my case, I'm lactose intolerant so I can't have milk. I think you should try to get calcium pills, or multivitamins that include good source of calcium. Obviously, a proper diet with bunch of green veggies, beans, and nuts, will help you out a lot. Add some magnesium and vitamin D, to make sure calcium deposits in your bones.

Eat lots of vegetables is enough. There is no need to take pills and drugs to get calcium.

Milk is really good for people and there's different kinds of milk like Whole Milk which to me is the best and most nutritious, Non Fat Milk, Skim Milk, Soy Milk, Goat Milk, Nuts and Seed based milks, Long life Milk.

Whole Milk has 3.25-3.5 percent fat, and it's the closest you can get to drinking milk that came from a cow. Whole milk is good for people who wants to gain weight. Among all types of milk, whole milk has the highest calories, saturated fat and cholesterol, in my opinion it's also the best tasting milk.

As of late, there seems to be a lot of discussion about milk in this forum. Now there is no denying that milk is a good, cheap, simple source of calcium, but the real question is if it's a healthy source of calcium.

In my opinion? No. I actually feel that it is one of the unhealthiest ways you can get calcium. Consumption of milk has been linked to increased levels of bad cholesterol and different forms of cancer, and not to mention the fact that supermarket milk contains all sorts of additives, antibiotics, hormones, as well as blood and puss from physically abused and unhealthy cows. Look up some documentaries about the dairy industry and you'll see what I mean.

Foods like seeds, sardines, beans and lentils, almonds, leafy greens, edamame and tofu, and figs are all better sources of calcium than milk, and are all much healthier in general. Milk has calcium and protein, and the rest is needless calories. These foods have more calcium, more protein, and plenty of other beneficial compounds that promote good health.

Milk is a good source of calcium for stronger bones, although past a certain age, especially for women, milk may not be enough and supplementation may be needed.

Our bodies needs calcium to strengthen our bones and milk for me is the best source of calcium but it to be absorbed by the body properly other vitamins and minerals are also needed like Magnesium, Vitamin D and Vitamin K.

Eating calcium rich foods also supports weight-loss, strengthen our bones and improves the blood pressure promoting heart health.

Here's a good link with regards to milk and other foods that are high in calcium.

Milk is essential to maintaining our body's integrity. As time passes by, our bodies deteriorate from excessive use and aging. Drinking milk regularly can help supplement our bone's need for nourishment. That way, we won't have brittle bones.

Yeah, that's right. Much better to drink milk to get calcium instead of some calcium pills. I don't usually drink milk, but if I do, its always cold and I will add vanilla because I don't like the taste of the milk. The doctors recommend to my grandmother also to drink milk instead of calcium pills.
