Mixing Cycling With Other Training?

Just wondering if anyone here participates in other sports as well as cycling. As a weight trainer, it's sometimes hard for me to balance other sports with my training, generally out of fear of dimishing returns on my weight workouts in terms of gaining muscle. For those of you involved in other sports as well, how do you manage to stear clear of overtraining?
 
Your gains in the gym will take a hit. I suggest you tweak your diet to accommodate cycling.
 
I have never experienced a variety of training since I am only into cycling. Once a friend introduced me to the gym but I didn't have the time to spare so I did not pursue that. Besides, I am not really an athlete but just an aficionado although sometimes I am also fantasizing of having a nice muscled body, hahahaaa. In all honesty, I only indulge in sports for that purpose - to lose weight.
