mixing Ultegra with Ultegra SL

Have found a good deal on an Ultegra SL compact chainset, currently run a 52-39 standard Ultegra. Am I right in thinking that mixing the two should be fine (except for the obvious colur mismatch...)?

More than fine. I run Ultegra SL rear derailleur, Ultegra and Dura-Ace cassettes, Dura-Ace chains, Dura-Ace front derailleur, Dura-ace crankset, and Ultegra shifters.

Work sweet as.

With going to a compact chainset, you'll have fiddle with the height of your front derailleur, but that is about it.

Lower your front derailleur, 'maybe' take a link out of the chain-go ride.
