Following on from recent URC discussions on how to keep one's head warm
in winter, I invested in one of these Campagnolo textran skull caps and
have been wearing it for the past couple of weeks:

And I love it. It is thin, light, completely windproof, warm - but not
/too/ warm - and keeps the cold air out of my ears (I have always had
trouble with my ears in the cold but not any more). And afaict it
doesn't even slightly affect my ability to hear what is going on in the
world around me. Haven't had a chance to test its claims to
waterproofing yet.

OK, it looks a bit daft if I'm wearing it without a lid - too much like
a swimming cap, perhaps. But to be fair it is designed as an under-lid
garment, and in that capacity it is perfect. Besides, I don't wear it
for fashion reasons, so I can live with what it looks like.

And OK, so there are cheaper alternatives available, but I was feeling
extravagant when I bought it.
