i used to use this stuff to keep my sidewalls in good conditon to
extend tire life. got it from branford bike...last time i got it was
in the early/ mid '90s.
now i'm trying to get some more, and cannot find it. i called
branford, and they turned me onto some stuff called "Tire Life" by
jevelot. i ordered some from my LBS (sourced from QBP), but Tire Life
is NOT the same as Sidewall Latex.
LeTour Sidewall Latex was a clear liquid that you'd brush onto the
sidewalls and it provided a clear & thin protective layer to minimize
ozone exposure and reduce thread separation.
Jevelot Tire Life is a milky white liquid that is also brushed on...but
it's thicker and more of an adhesive, as it dries to be quite tacky
(this is something Sidewall Latex did not do). the jar mentions
dusting with powder if you're applying to sidewalls, which seems like a
kludgy PITA, and you'll end up w/ powder all over the place.
any thoughts on a direct replacement or source for LeTour Sidewall
Latex?
