Hi, All: Any advice for doing this year's Manhattan to Montauk 145-Miler -- on a 'bent? It's supposed to be mostly flat, with hills only towards the end. Starts at 6 in the morning and scheduled to end no later than 6 in the evening. Hopefully no headwinds! The route's top-secret...but there are probably only so many ways of getting 1K+ cyclists through Long Island, right? Anyway, your experiences -- 'bent or otherwise -- are appreciated. The tour organizers really want to scare folks away from doing this denomination (66 and 100 are the others), but with half the day to play with, it's only 12mph on average! Okay, so you figure...what, two hours' worth of rest? That's still like 15mph -- on flat terrain! No big deal, right? 'Specially on a nice comfy 'bent!
