    Diegem Superprestige Cross 29.12.2002

    Diegem, in the Brussels suburbs, hosts a classic cyclocross as co-founders of the Superprestige in
    the early 80s. The Superprestige circuit might have been crucial in the survival of cyclocross as a
    pro sport in darker periods, but apparently the promoters receive little esteem from the UCI. For
    next season 3 of the races, among which Diegem, see their traditional place on the calendar taken by
    a World Cup race. The people from Diegem still hope the UCI might be open to discussion but that
    would be surprising.   For the race today Mario De Clercq appears optimistic. “We’ve had some
    17 kmph races recently.......
