Generally water. You have to walk or run at least 10 miles
before you see a half-pound from calorie burning.

A fairly simple restriction diet that works for me is to
count courses rather than calories. This includes all snacks
and caloric beverages. I observe my natural habit is about
13 a day, give or take 1-2. But I try to restrict to 10 when
want to lose some weight, usually in the pattern 2-3-3-1 (I
have to have an evening snack or drink). I found when typing
into some of the web calorie counters, I average 200 kcals a
course (when I stay away from restaurants). This includes
some biggies like a slice of pizza or burger at 500 as well
smallish like a piece of fruit or bread. I believe weight-
watchers also uses the course method, but adds a quality
factor to the type of course.

I also find Spring to be the easiest season. When the days
are getting shorter, perhaps some mammal hormone thing kicks
in and I find it hard to restrict calories. And in winter,
low blood sugar is hard in the cold.
