This was given to me used by a friend who bought it used himself several years ago and put well over 10,000 miles on it.

I was wondering, how do I find out what year it was produced?

Uh...ask your friend what year he purchased it?

Attaching a color photo of your bike might also be good idea as paint/decal/color schemes can be used to quickly date the production year of some bikes.
