I'm having a heck of a time finding a smartphone mount that will work on my Cannondale Supersix. Anyone out there know of one that will actually work? I've tried two so far without success. The handlebar diameter was too big for the Minoura and the Roc Form couldn't be mounted on the head tube. Thanks in advance.

Sleazy, cheap universal case: http://www.macmall.com/p/Satechi-Cellular-Telephony/product~dpno~9434733~pdp.iafbdff#

There are a couple motorcycle cases and mounts specific to the Galaxy S3 that range to 35 MM diameter. Close, but no cigar.

Lots of gems like this out there: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bicycle-Bike-Handlebar-Mount-Holder-Samsung-Galaxy-S4-S3-S2-Note2-Premier-/130940457046?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D150921319301%26ps%3D54

Thanks. I'll check those out. So far, tube clamp or stem screw haven't worked. I think that one with a belt or tie mounted on either the handlebar or the stem might work, as long as it's secure.

this one mounts on your stem
Thanks. I'll check that out, but the RocForm that I tried couldn't be mounted on the stem.

Well, there's always the bike computer route. You could pay very little for a bike computer that just shows the basic stuff. Your phone could stay in a jersey pocket and still record the ride data, including GPS data, if you like.

Yes, I was planning on getting a bike computer too, but I haven't yet decided how sophisticated a unit I need at this point.

There are quite a few different brands and such if you search on ebay. They are relatively cheap and I seen many below $20.

You are talking about phone mounts, not biking computers, right?

If I were going to mount my Samsung, these are the ones I would use. I finally decided there was no reason to. I know where I am going most of the time and all the other info is irrelevant until I am finished riding. I recently trashed my old bike computer with all the many features (cadence, etc) and put a simple odometer/speedometer from Knog on there. Love it.

This mount might be a bit agricultural, but it certainly looks sturdy:

I use my Map My Ride when I am riding. I like the data that it saves and having a GPS app comes in handy from time to time.

I use Endomondo (gave up on using Map My Ride). It tracks everything and when I am done it uploads it to the cloud. I saw a guy the other day messing with his phone mounted on his bike and he almost wrecked. If you do use your GPS phone for directions, make sure you use the voice commands and not try and navigate via a map while you're moving. I think it's dangerous.

I have endomondo too, but I started using map my ride and it records my workout details and stores them on the cloud and gives you weekly and monthly summaries, along with encouraging emails. I guess i just got in the habit of using map my ride. I don't mess with my phone while riding unless i'm standing still with my feet on the ground. I just listen for the audio splits (total time, mileage, average speed) and the screen is black the whole time.

The Rokform will mount on your head tube. I took mine down to my bike shop and they put a compression plug in that would accept the Rokform top cap. They switched out the old for the new and didn't charge me a dime.
