There are many different bikes for touring and it is really hard to choose the one.
Next year in May, I plan to leave on a 2-3 year long trip around the world. I'm going to spend most of the way on backroads that likely will be dirt or gravel roads.
I am planning to either buy a full mountain bike and attach front and rear racks to it or build one based on mountain bike steel frame.
The affordable bikes that I'm considering to get are made by Marin. There are three models that I'm interested in -
1. Marin Team Marin
2. Eldridge Grade -

Has anyone ever used one of these bikes for touring. Please, let me know if any of these models are good for long distance touring or should I try something different.
