I'm in the same boat - a roadie at heart, but looking for pure recreational moutain biking.
Funny thing is I would never dream of buying a second hand road bike without knowing its heritage, but thinking very hard of buying the new MTB from the paper to save a few pennies. Is this wise & (apart from it being stolen) what are the pitfalls ? Any clues as what to look for ? Reckon there would be a number of MTB's that have never felt dirt under their tyres and owners have moved on to the next "big thing".
GG - like the idea of the Wheeler since I'm rapt with my Wheeler road bike. Given I ride a size 58 road bike - does the same measurements apply to MTB's ?
