I've been doing Mt Cootha a few times recently, and was wondering what sort of times people usually do up the mountain? Also, I thought somewhere there was a site with times on it, but haven't been able to find it, so was wondering if anybody knows what it is...

I saw your message and thought I better go up it again this afternoon. I go the back way (anticlockwise). From from the corner of Simpsons Rd up to the top of the hill just past the ABC (there is a finish line on the road) is 2.3km and 206 metres according to my computer. I hope this is the same start point as cycle2max otherwise I'm cheating. My time was 9:25 but I'm hoping to get down below 9 minutes. Fastest time on cycle2max is 7 minutes something! It also has the climb listed at 236m.
Adam (off to watch some *real* mountain climbing on SBS)

Yeh, Adam That fastest time was by me over 20 years ago. We rode it in our club C'ship. I remember just floating up (I think it was in 42/17... 18 at the lowest). I was 64kg then.. about 80 now. The guy I was racing for 1st place had just come back from the worlds and had lost some condition in the previous week. He just laughs about it these days. http://control-access.com/~leearc/lee/bikes.htm -- Mark Lee
