    Is it possible to mix MTB/road bits?

    I have a road bike with Ultegra 2002 group (double crank). I'd like to make this a hybrid with a MTB handle bar. Would an XT/XTR shifter/brake combo work with the Ultegra front/rear derailleurs + brakes?

    Shimano have Flatbar shifters/levers for 105->DA road components. There is a special section in Road components: http://www.shimano.com.au/publish/content/australia/en/cycling.html

    I am waiting for the 3/10 speed Ultegra shifters to become available, 9/2005, before upgrading my bike. 😎
