Hey all, I'm wondering what everyone listens to before (and/or during if you are brave enough) riding to get motivated to ride.

Songs or entire albums, which ever.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Oasis ('Be Here Now' album especially), and a bit of AC/DC ('(For those about to Rock)We Salute You' in particular).

Hoping to put together a couple good sounding CDs for the car ride to races/out-of-town riding.

Thanks all.

I love Oasis... :)

But otherwise I listen to the whisper (or ROAR) o the wind, the hum and vibration of my tires on the road, and the horns of cars !! Seriously, If I listen to music while riding, I tend to not fully appreciate my ride.

Amen to that. I like to keep my head where my feet are, or in this case my pedals. I want to be in the moment not to escape from it.

Have a MP3 player loaded with heavy metal. Most is Judas Priest ohh yeah........, them and Iron Maiden, Guns & Roses, etc, you get the idea. You have to use your vision more, no way around it, or your gonna get creamed.

garbage is fantastic - especially push it:) ben lee's new song (catch my disease) is fantastically boppy and motivating:)
gwen stefani, black eyed peas, pearl jam, moby, apollo 440, and fatboy slim also good.

basically, i start with high energy, and have a selection of more mellow tunes (rem, sarah mclaughlin, brian eno) for ride home. i like distance, not speed, you see:)

not only music you like, but music to suit your style of riding would be a must:)

Barry Manilow, Wayne Newton, and Barbara Streisand. It will definitely motivate you to do something. Leap from the moving car most likely.

To really get the testosterone fires blazing, Nine Inch Nails - Broken, while watching pornos and thinking about everyone who ever done you wrong.

I have a lot of diverse stuff on my MP3...I have all of Enigma's albums loaded for those days when I am in the groove. I have Alternative stuff like Chevelle, Disturbed, Crossfade, Linkin Park and Creed for those days that I want to just sprint and burn...and a little classical/symphony for post ride stretches/walks. I have about 300 songs in my player that account for just about any possible mood/riding situation. I also have about 3,000 songs on my computer to rotate out from time to time. I do not believe in downloading music but whenever I buy a new cd I rip it to my comp and then burn copies to place in my car or put on the player. :)

Personally, I just look at my pale white skin and flabby stomach. That motivates me enough.

george hincapie became my favorite rider when i found out he trains to Dr Dre.

mostly i ride to hip hop- wu tang, biggie, pac, dre, eminem, and whatever flavor of the month stuff is on the radio (TI, cassidy and saigon), the tempos of hiphop tracks tend to average around the 90-110 bpm range so they're good for cadence, for me. and thr fact that they shift slightly makes me change up my cadence a little bit every couple of minutes which keeps me fresh for a little longer, i think.

Muddy Waters, "Got my mojo workin'" The tempo is just right for keeping your feet rotating.
