All my wife would tell me about my birthday surprise yesterday was that
I had to be dressed and ready to go at 6pm. She usually takes me out for
a nice dinner, so that is what I figured she was doing, but that she
just wouldn't day where. It turned out that it was my favourite local
restaurant, but it wasn't just a regular dinner. It was a cooking
demonstration dinner where the owner/chef provided the recipes and
showed us how he prepares them. We then got to try the dish from the
kitchen.
The first course was butternut squash and pumpkin soup, which was
delicious. Then he made carrot and potato pancakes (Roesti<?>😉 and
vegetable bundles wrapped in thin slices of zucchini and grilled
California cut strip steaks. Dessert was chocolate mousse served in
phyllo cups.
What a great surprise.
