As many of you know I was lucky enough to win the Guru Photon here on Cycling Forums. This will be my build story and I will post lots of pictures.

Well after what seemed like years of waiting the Fed Ex delivery guy finally showed up. As he walked up (I was waiting there with the door open) he says in a joking voice Looks like someone shipped you a big empty box. I replied in a sarcastic voice it better not be empty there is a $5000 bike frame in there. At that point he handed me the box and I felt it and knew something was wrong as this was obviously an empty box! Then it hit us and we both got a concerned feeling as we started to look at the box and realized it had been opened and retaped. My gut instantly hit the floor as I thought about some warehouse guy possibly steeling my new frame. At this point we decided to open the box right there so both of us could witness what was or wasn’t in the box. I cut the tape with some keys in my pocket to see that the staples in the box were ripped out and it had definitely been opened before. I pulled the box apart and then realized the unavoidable…

This frame was stupid light!
It was in there alright, we both laughed and then started admiring it. It then hit me that Steve had it shipped to Cycling Forums where he opened it to take pictures for the contest.
First things first get the scale I noticed it had already had a press fit BB installed which was a nice surprise. 825g with an estimated 78g BB so the frame weight is 738g. The frame, fork, BB, headset, spacers, cap, and front derailleur mount weigh in at 1218g with the steer tube uncut.
I had done many searches on the internet trying to imagine what this bike would look like and picture don’t do this frame justice. The bike looks great a lot better than I had imagined. The bare carbon with the simple decals is a great look and with an all black build with simple white logos this should not only be light but turn heads as well.
My build list looks like this and should weigh in just under 12lbs and be built as an everyday bike.

With this bike, I am expecting to hear that you were first over the line at the MMM! Its a beautiful frame and it sounds like it is going to be a beautiful build. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. For now though, don't sit it anywhere that there is a slight draft or it might just blow away.

Thanks everyone. I can only dream about being first in the MMM for two reasons. First there are some very strong riders that I could not beat even with this bike and second I created the MMM and I am the event coordinator. This sucks because I created the perfect ride for me and now I can't ride it /img/vbsmilies/smilies/hissyfit.gif Oh well.

The wheels, brakes, cassette and chain should be here first late this week. i will post some pictures and weights as they come in.

Nice looking bike so far, and the wheels look fantastic........no, the pedals were Look(sorry). Does rum help you finish the MMM? Maybe make it less demanding mentally if not physically, or maybe deadens the pain after the ride? Or is it for when no matter what you do to try to get rid of the click in your bike, it is still there? I'm still jealous, but the frame is 4 cm too small for me anyway, at least that is what I keep telling myself/img/vbsmilies/smilies/wink.gif.

Now all I need is my Zipp & Specialized dealer to pull through. Unfortunately without a crank, stem and bars all I can do is verify the weights & start stretching the tires.

5400 what? Pounds? Ounces? Grams? Same question about the 1114.7. The resolution on the photos is not clear enough to make out the units of measure on the scale. Sweet looking bike though. You did a superb job.

LOL! Gotta be 5400 pounds. Well, maybe only 1114.7 pounds./img/vbsmilies/smilies/biggrin.gif
Uh, I'll take a wild guess at 5400 grams or 5.4 kilograms - just under 12lbs.

Nice build-up!
