  1. Would gratefully appreciate any feedback you lot can give
    regarding my blisters....

After years of trial and error I hardly ever get friction
blisters from socks and boots rubbing on my feet (Yay!) but
I do find my little toes get blisters from where the
adjacent toes put pressure on the fleshy pads. :-0 What
could I do to stop my little toes from slipping under and
getting pressured like this? Taping the toes up does not
help. I can spread my toes out inside my boots. I saw some
toe spreader thingys in the chemists which look interesting
but am not sure. Any advice?

(Also, where can I find small Compeed? Medium seem way too
    big!)

    Thanks, Nick

I used to get inter-toe blisters (I just made that
expression up, in case you wonder). Microporous tape was a
fiddle, but did work to some extent. What worked much better
was changing to a single, wicking sock which kept my feet
much drier. I also liberally sprinkle talcum powder over my
feet before putting my walking socks on. Don't think I've
had a blister since, and my heaviest boots are on the tight
side. (Damn feet have spread about half a size.) However, I
don't walk for more than about 5-6 hours nor cover more than
    10-12 miles on average.

I took the extreme way out of this problem last summer, and
had surgery to straighten the two smallest toes on my right
foot. I think I'm glad I had it done; however I'm not in
any hurry to repeat the procedure with the left foot. My
best advice would be to see a podiatrist and see if you can
get some purpose made pads that will mould themselves to
the shape of your gaps between the affected toes. Try those
for a while to see if they help to make things easier, and
see if the podiatrist recommends orthoses in your walking
    boots as well.

  4. I had/have the same problem. I use Pro Foot Softgel toe
protectors, sold through Lloyd Pharmacies at £1.99 each. I
had bisters on both little toes over Easter doing the SWCP
    but only had one protector!

Pop on the protector and the pain disapears straight away -
the blister actually got smaller over the next 50 miles!
Same effect when I got hold of one for the other foot. You
need to check them every couple of hours or so but I now
plan to but them on before I start.

They are still OK after over 70 miles - take them off and
    wash them and re-use.
