Yes, but I've seen it before. They're all repeats. The one on New Zealand today was good.
The one I mentioned to you about Canada was Ray Mears - but I didn't know as I hadn't seen the start of the program. I though he was very good indeed. -- Bill Grey billboy.co.ukbillboy.co.ukOpen ↗

You had leeks and roast parsnips? Wow!
Are they really unusual?
Not as food in general, but as part of Christmas dinner for me, yes.
Time for a change?

Leeks are on of my favourite veggies, gently stir-fried in a bit of olive oil with a touch of water added to finish softening them.
Olive oil? Now that is unusual in this family.
Time for a change!

They generally taste better if you cook them first.
Surely the texture suffers compared to ordinary ones?
Of course, fresh veg are always better, but it's convenient to have a supply of stuff in the freezer that won't go off for those times when I run out of proper food and can't be bothered to go out and get more.
I guess so.

I like them lightly cooked so there is a sort of squeak in them when you bite them.
Lightly cooked is always best, so that they still have a bit of crunch and all the goodness isn't boiled out of them.
Indeed it is. :-p
BTW have hung the sprout stalk out the back as it's too large to go in the fridge!
Trouble is, there's little or no connection these days between the Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus and the so-called 'Christmas' celebrated by everyone else. I'm on the fence religiously, but I know which one I prefer even so.

I'm a Christian and I can assure you all that giving and getting loads of pressies, as well as having lots of alcoholic pleasure is precisely what we are meant to be doing over the next few days.

I don't care what you say, I'm off to get [censored] now.... If we get [censored] enough, we might open our presents tonight instead of tomorrow.
Tomorrow is for kids....
I opened my first present last Thursday. It was beer. I drank it.
In areas that have real cold weather the inhabitants tend to be very good at dealing with the cold. They have the right clothing and as they grow up they learn the necessary skills to survive.
ISTR that life expectancy in the former USSR is much lower than in the UK and in the UK it is the old who tend to succumb to hypothermia.

I just bought my main Christmas present today. Then I gave it to my mother to wrap up for me so she can surprise me with it tomorrow.
Best not tell Martin about it though, it's only for emergencies. :-)
Paul
Something for destroying cairns in an emergency? Something for destroying them when a whiteout or dense mist prevents you from reaching them? A rocket-propelled grenade launcher?

Nah, far more destructive than that, but in an indirect way. Sorry Martin... :-(
Nothing instead. An entire Christmas dinner without TV. First time ever. Glorious.
I really don't understand the obsession with Christmas TV. TV yes, but why on Christmas day during the socialising? If people need it that bad there is such a thing as a video recorder.
Paul
There is nothing to watch on Christmas Day. The TV was taken over for Playstation use. I expect the queen missed another golden opportunity to mount a full scale defence of foxhunting.

I was expecting she'd say something about cutting Anne out of her Will after that bull terrier ate one of the Corgis. Of course it had to be put down after that, even though it previously got away with attacking two children!
Bull terriers will be bull terriers! I'm always astonished when people expect them to be sweet and gentle all the time.
I heard it was a Pit Bull terrier is that right?
No - just an ordinary bull terrier. They can be fairly aggressive.

I was almost tempted to get one for myself after some intense ATV racing against my 7 year old grandson in California a couple of weeks ago. The only reason I didn't is the lack of a suitable competitive friend. Next doors' grandchildren are the wrong ages, so I can't borrow 'em.

Indeed she did, just talked about our boys in the Middle East. I was expecting she'd say something about cutting Anne out of her Will after that bull terrier ate one of the Corgis. Of course it had to be put down after that, even though it previously got away with attacking two children!
