after continuing a few days after the crash he had to abandon on Saturday. Hope he comes back strong for the Tour de France and at least wins a stage.

Rather nasty - 14 stiches of which 10 in the right ankle , Sad to see what may have been his last Giro .

Good to see petachi lambasting the organisers for the stupid and dangerous finishes in this and last years Giro - when Chipo fell last year the finish was 150 yds after a corner because the mayor wanted the race to finish outside the town hall -crazy !

Saw the crash on eurosport. The bloke behind him tried to bunny hop Cipo and went face down.

It was nasty.

What happened to him? (I would think that's a good way to break your neck!)

He seemed to do this massive bunny hop over Cipo and his Specialized but he sort of flew through the air and came down almost chin first on the tarmac.

It was nasty but nowhere near as bad a Jalabert at Armentiers in the '94 TDF.

It has been replayed on EurosportNews if you have that tv channel.

If not there may be a video on their website http://www.eurosport.co.uk (if not they are doing live text updates from the Giro, which are a great way to rack up the offices internet bill!!)
