The annotation is a bit harsh on old Boogie. There wasn't a sprint.
Moerenhout drove off more than a lap before. Langeveld was the one (then
from Skill-Shimano) who agreed not to contest Boogerd's win in the year
before. Den Bakker is an old pal from Rabobank who did all the work
chasing Moerenhout. Boogerd was a true gentleman in his last
championships, like Breukink was in Boogie's first. Alas no chance for
the same dramatic handover from the old to the new generation.
