Natural Selection - 4 types

  1. Darwin set up natural selection. I would like to go one step further and suggest 4 basic ways of
    natural selection. The more exact we can get the better IMO.

    Once a membrane is set up we have 2 ways to categorize evolution
    1. how the cell relates to what is outside it
    2. how the cell relates to what is inside it. (at first this may seem an arbitrary classification
    system, but it may have a bio reason behind it. Though it need not to still work)

    Now we can further divide each of these 2 sets into 2 more 1 how the cell relates to what is outside
    it a how it takes in energy/food b how it does not take in energy/food - or keeps out all non food -
    or keeps out all that is not supportive of the cell

    3. how the cell relates to what is inside it a how it holds in energy/ food and utilizes it b how
    it does not hold in energy/food but excretes it out as waste

    I call these the 4 options. Now, when we say there has been natural selection, we don't stop there.
    Then we ask, in which of the 4 options has selection taken place Option
    4. take in energy/food (evolved to move toward nurturing, move toward anything that nurtures
    5. block out energy/food (evolved to any behavior that blocks out anything not nurturing from
    outside the cell
    6. hold in energy/food (evolved to all ways of utilizing energy/food for nurturing
    7. excrete out waste (evolved to all ways of separating/excreting waste from the cell.

    Can anyone find any step of selection that does not fit these 4?

    But can it have more than classification value? I think so. Karen Horney suggested all social
    behavior was connected to 3 behavior move toward others (see option 1) move against others (see
    option 2) move away from others (see option 4). I would add move towards self - which is not a
    social behavior but would suggest option 3)

    I've enlarged her ideas to include any action between any individual and any aspect of the
    environment outside or inside the cell. Now we have another aspect of the 4 options. It suggests all
    behavior between any two members of the same or different species. 1 move toward /outside the cell
    (symbiosis - love - social cooperation - altruism) 2 move against/ outside the cell (
    competitiveness - fight - protect self from danger) 3 move toward /inside the cell (self nurturing -
    storing nurturing ) 4 move against/inside the cell ( all excreting out of waste or separating from
    waste or danger of any kind)

    So we have a very simple logical idea that can be utilized as helping categorize types of selection.

    And the bio component? It may be directly linked to temperature in that life needs to moderate
    temperature and it does that by #1 moving toward energy outside the cell when needing more, or #2
    moving against energy outside the cell when needing less or... etc.

    The main points of my hypothesis are:
    8. How life began as a reaction to the sun/UV and the thermal cycle of hot-dry-sun/cold-wet-night.
    Then continued as an energy moderator with modification through descent.
    9. The Four Options and how they relate to thermodynamics, biological classification, the first
    cell, modification on all levels, psychological behavior of individuals and groups, inner
    conflicts and a therapy of resolving them, etc.
    10. Model showing relationship between adaptation fitness and natural selection. How it supports
    punctuated equilibrium and the 'slope and plateau' model etc.
