Hello,
The Naturopathic Public Awareness Campaign (NPAC) is a grass
roots organization committed to securing licensure for
naturopathic doctors in all 50 states. The vision of
dedicated naturopathic students at Southwest College of
Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona, this organization
has already demonstrated what desire, focus and organization
can do by spearheading successful efforts to secure
licensing in California. With this momentum, NPAC is
prepared to assist Florida, Washington D.C., New York and
many other states who have legislation in place and just
need support and back-up to make licensure a reality.
Why is licensing important?
Licensing protects doctors and patients. It provides for
regulation that insures safe practice and allows patients to
make informeddecisions about their health care. Naturopathic
doctors attend a post-baccalaureate four year medical
program that prepares them to provide primary health care.
The philosophy guiding this health care is 1) First, Do No
Harm, 2) The Healing Power of Nature, 3) Discover and Treat
the Cause, 4) Treat the Whole Person, 5) The Physician as
Teacher, and 6) Prevention is the Best Cure. Guided by this
philosophy, Naturopathic Doctors offer choices in health
management that extend beyond prescriptions and surgery to
include botanical medicine, homeopathy, mind/body work,
physical medicine, hydrotherapy, traditional Chinese
medicine, and other modalities uniquely tailored to the
individual's need.
On April 17th, 2004, NPAC is hosting a fundraising event to
offset the costs of raising awareness for Naturopathic
Licensing.
Activities will include a live auction for valuable prizes
and a raffle where you have better than a 1 in 54 chance of
winning. If you just can't be there, you still have a chance
to win and support this important cause by purchasing raffle
tickets in advance online. Only 2,000 raffle tickets will be
sold for a price of $25.00 per ticket. Over $6000 in prizes
will be given away and include a seven day resort vacation
valued at $1,750, an $800 sports entertainment package, fine
jewelry, professional health care services, golf pro
lessons, gift certificates to restaurants and specialty
stores, acupuncture and massage sessions, decorator items,
fitness training, tickets to sporting events and much more.
