I'm looking for suggestions on how to deal with or avoid neck pain during and after riding. I'm a roadie and ride mostly on the brake hoods, rarely in the drops. The pain seems to be centered right down the center of my neck and upper back. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have had good luck with Acupuncture to relive neck pain. In my profession at time I have to work in uncomfortable positions, which causes my neck pain. Luckily I have two Acupuncture’s next door.

Among other things, make sure you're fitted properly on your bike.

Remember that neck pain is rarely caused by a serious illness and will often disappear within a week. People with weak neck muscles are more prone to neck problems and in such cases, an exercise programme to strengthen the neck is a good idea. These are the few useful link

Thanks very much for the info & websites. They're pretty interesting. Things seem to be getting better, more riding has helped, and the pain I feel now is when I rotate my head to the right. Seems like it's in the trapezius area. Thanks again.

Take a look at your work or home environment, while on the computer or even how you talk on the phone. If you are continuously looking in one direction, this will create a problem, then maybe only manifesting itself after rides.
