need a rear wheel for dahon speed 7

anyone know where i can get a back whel for a ahon speed 7, either in
glasgow or mail order? I spoke emailed dahon distributers but not much
luck. Live in spain but will be in glasgow for xmas so somewhere there
would be good or someone who could deliver to spain.
Thanks

Try http://www.kinetics.org.uk/ as they seem to do lots of odd stuff.
Alternatively, depending on what's wrong with the old wheel, why not have it
either rebuilt or a new wheel built by a decent wheel builder. Must be some
in Glasgow and Spain.

http://www.thorusa.com/about.htm

i got a seatpost from this shop and it came through from usa no
problems as 'repair parts'.
including postage it was half the price of a less good part that I
could not actually get in uk.
i have found dahon parts hard to get in uk.

You could send a text. price might not be exactly predictable because
of postage and customs, but it worked for me.

Dahon's UK distributors are legendary when it comes to spares... ;) You
could get a Dahon wheel from the USA through Thor or Gaerlan, but it
might be cheaper to find a bike shop that builds wheels in the UK to
build you a 20 inch back wheel. I don't think there's anything special
about Dahon's back wheels; the front ones are a bit more fiddly though as
Dahon use a narrow hub. Sadly, in my experience, getting Dahon spares in
the UK is like finding rocking horse sh*t :(

Oh dear, does his mean that when my Trek F400 has problems I will have
trouble getting spares? I hear Dahon had much input into it's
manufacture.

There are several companies selling rebadged Dahons in the UK, e.g.
Raleigh, Dawes etc.. These companies might be able to source spares
direct from Dahon without going through Dahon's UK Distributor which
could be another route...

If you get your own back wheel made up you could use a Capreo hub which
will allow you to have a greater range of back sprockets - so it might be
even better than a standard Dahon back wheel :)

Seeing as Dahon's backup in the UK is somewhat patchy, it's all the more
reason to get a new Dahon from Germany via EBay and save yourself a lot
of money.
