Hello there people. Recently I started cycling long distance, for travelling, going around the places in my state. The bike I'm riding is a very old bike, and it has been through a couple of floods and is rusting.

So, now I need a new bike, and I need some advice.
Which bikes in your opinion that would be best for me?
I need something that's durable, yet not so expensive. I'm planning on taking a road trip (approximately around a thousand kilometers.) I'm want to know which bike would be suitable. Nothing too expensive or too professional. Something that is comfortable, durable, and not too expensive. My budget is around $400.

Thanks!

The Windsor Tourist from BikesDirect at $599 (your total price... brand-new ... delivered to your door) may be the best deal in your price range if you are able to adjust the brakes and derailleurs yourself and true the wheels (or have somebody do these things for you as a favor) ... http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/tourist.htm

Okay man, thank you for the advice. I checked that bike, but it seems like it's got a lot of negative reviews. Tho it looks pretty decent. And it's also not a bike where I can find here in Malaysia. The shipping also is not international I believe? Thank you for the recommendation tho, really appreciate :)
I have also been going through a couple of threads on this forum, and I have done the body fitting stuff. I also went to a couple of local bike shops, and the 2 bikes that caught my attention was the Raleigh Elite Pro and the Raleigh Oakland.

One of the shop owners said that the Oakland was best for touring. What do you guys think? Another friend of mine said that the 700c tyres of that is a NO - NO when it comes to touring with load (panniers etc2)

Which one do you guys think is the best? Thanks heaps peeps :)
