I have 2004 set of Mavic Ksyrium SSC SL. The front wheel creaked at the hub. My LBS suggested that I lube the contact points and lightly lube the hub components.
The hub disassembled easily with a pin spanner and an Allen key. I lightly lubed the contact points. The hub has two cartridge bearings. I am not sure how tension is required to reassemble the axle & retaining plate.
What is the appropriate tension for this?
Mavic's web page does not have any tech info on this.
BTW these wheels are only two months old and the cartridge bearings are not very smooth. Is this the norm? I am use to Campy smooth bearings in hubs.

With the bearings exposed, carefully pry the seals off and grease inside there, replace the seals. Also grease the axle and all the insides of these very noisey hubs. Put the wheel in a bike and tighten the plate until the 'play' is gone when wiggling the rim/wheel back and forth. Ensure the adjustment plate is on the left side, seems the adjustment stays a little accurate that way.
