Need help: Sandpaper with Poggio shoes

There were 2 Look shaped piece of sandpaper (adhesive on back) with my new Nike Poggio shoes. How
are they supposed to be used?

I'm guessing that I stick the paper on the cleat and the sandpaper provides a rough interface
between the slick carbon sole. But, I've never seen this before on any other carbon shoes.

Help?
