Need some advise on a new bike

ive have been using an old early 90's, carbon fiber, specialized epic as my road bike, but i think its time to upgrade and get a smaller bike since this bike is one size too large for me (56cm). what id like is a bike that i can use as a commuter and an uphill beast as well as ~30 mile weekend rides lol. i was looking at the orbea mitis or a custom rock lobster, but that might go over my budget. so could you guys recommend me a bike that fits my budget of $2200

Get the Orbea Mitis. Very good bike. I ride an Orbea but with the Lobular frameset. Look around before you buy because I went to my LBS which sells Orbea's and they have a full carbon bike (Onix frameset with 105 ) which is about in that price range of $2300
