my hubby also had bypass...13 months ago now...the areas of
numbness on his chest have gradually diminished..if not gone
away..tho we were told sometimes the are permanent

as for the legs...he was lucky in that his saphenous vein
was "harvested" with an endoscope..so only two tiny holes
(like when they do scope surgery on your knee)..and he has
had no problems there ..in fact..he picked the place and
doctor he did..BECAUSE of the endoscopic vein harvest ..also
he only needed a small piece..so only his thigh was
involved..

folks DO complain more of what you describe..esp in the
legs..than even of the rigors of the surgery itself..

try and be patient..it is far too soon to determine how
much better it will get...but it should get better as
time goes on..

Be patient (easier said than done I know).

I had a valve replacement last April & came out of three ops
with a totally numb front right thigh. Obviously not caused
directly as my legs weren't touched.

Some 6 months later a stroke specialist said that it was
probably due to the pressure being dropped a bit during the
5 hour op causing some minor neural damage but not to be
concerned. It's fine now.
