in anticipation for a ride from Vancouver BC to Whistler ( I live in Chicago) i put on FSA compact cranks/gearset to help with the climbs. The cranks were a little longer than I was used too, 173 mm as opposed to 170 mm. together with a new Brooks saddle I had the whole thing set up at my local bike shop. Long story short did a century tune up ride (a couple of 30 miler to break in new equipment) and have given myself a painful case of tendonitus (sp)? in back of my knee.
My questions are these:
could the new set up have caused this?
I plan to do the ride anyway, has anyone ridden a hard climb with tendonitus and lived to tell the tale? I have checked with an orthopedic dr he said ok. It will be approx. 250 miles of riding in 3 days (lots of climbs). Also any tips for riding with this ailment?
thanx in advance all you wise ones

It seems to me that your cranks are a bit too long. Lower the seat or something !!
