hello guys, my name is thomas. Im from new york and i just got into biking. i ride a trek 2000 alpha series. not the fanciest thing in the world but it works for me. im still learning, as i am only 14 and i get nervous riding on busy streets. I was going on my normal 20 mile bike ride today and ended up getting a flat at about the 10 mile mark. I looked through my backpack to find that i didnt pack any patches. 10 mile walk back. 😠
i need a new set of tires now ,fast, i am competing in little over a week. I do not need the fanciest tire out their. I need something that can hold grip at high-speed and is relatively think for when i bottom out.
i also need some help pulling my popped tire of the wheel. i am not sure if it is tapped or glued. any tricks to this process?
I learned my lesson this time and will never go out again with a patch.
Here is a homepage by Sheldon Brown, a total asset to the cycling community. The info can be a little advanced, but you should refer to it and study it, it will help you learn everything you need to know. Also, make sure you have tape over the inside rim covering the spoke nipples, and/or that you are riding the correct air pressure (listed on the sidewall of the tire). With regards to your new tires, you are just gonna have to go buy some if you need them that fast...if money is an issue see if you have a Performance bike shop nearby, they are the self proclaimed walmart of biking...good luck.
Go to your nearset bike shop and politely ask them to show you how to change a flat. Like Scotty_Dog said, you probably don't need a new tire to replace the one that's flat. You just need to patch or replace the tube. If you want new tires anyway, ask the shop for some recommendations. You can also learn a lot from the Sheldon Brown link that WIGGUM1 provided.

thank you guys. i know how to change a flat. the reason that i am replacing the entire tire is because the treads on them are worn down. when i go into a turn i can feel the bike slide. Not the most comfortable feeling in the world. I went today a picked up so performance race tires. they have more side-wall support and should help keep my line through a turn.
