Hello,
I'm do not know that much about bikes or stuff like that, I just have a bike that I use to get back and forth to uni.
It is a "normal" mountain bike with 21 gears.
However, my rear derailleur is bent (someone apparently thought it was fun to kick it 🙁 ). So I need to buy a new one.
Then the question:
Can I just buy any rear derailleur with the capacity of 21 gears? Or do I have to buy the exact same as the one on the bike now?
Before spending any money, try bending it back with your hands. Just bend it until the derailleur cage points straight at the ground. My bet it that'll fix it.
If you decide to buy a new derailleur, it has to be sized for your largest rear cog. Assuming you have a Shimano equipped mountain bike, most any Shimano mountain bike rear derailleur will work. A road bike derailleur probably won't.
I have tried to bend it up, didn't work..
I also should have mentioned that one of the smaller gears on the derailleur is bent/broken.
The derailleur is called "DNP epoch 7" (the bigger one on the pic) and it can be quite impossible to find the exact same one.
I will try to go to a bike shop and ask for a Shimano rear derailleur and explain them the same thing as I said here, hopefully that will help.

First, make sure the Derailleur Hanger is not bent!
You have identified a Frame Mounted Long Cage Derailleur. A Shimano Tourney would be considered an upgrade. 😄
I suggest: A Frame Mounted Shimano Tourney RD-TX30. 😉
