Hello, I would first like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Jerry, I am a 36 year old
father of two, a 13 year old boy and a 10 year old daughter. I used to do a lot of cycling and am
getting back into it now that my son has expressed an interest. I ride a XTR equipted 2000 Santa
Cruz Chameleon , and I am quite happy with it. My son on the other hand is riding my OLD Trek 4000
which is a touch too big for him. But he is doing good. I don't want to put a ton of cash into a
starter bike for him since he may lose interest any second now. I was thinking of a brand new Trek
4300 for Christmas... I was going to take some of the upgraded components off my 4000 (some LX level
stuff) and swap them onto the the brand new 4300, Thus keeping the best of everything. Is this a
sound idea? is this a good sound hardtail for a young trail rider? BTW we are in flat Florida, and I
am kinda old school, so I don't see a lot of need to buy a full suspension. any opinions would be
appreciated. Jerry
