In the New School corner is the Fair Wheel Bikes version of road bike riding: And in the Old School corner is.............this:

I had an old early 60's era Puch 10 speed when I was in high school before I could legally drive, and use to jump off flights of stairs at the school, ride in the field out back and jump dirt mounds, and everyone thought I was nuts back in then for doing that stuff on a road bike which was the very early 70's, nowadays the stunts I did would look like nothing. I bent the rims a bunch of times, broke a crank, and bent a fork. The last straw for the bike was when I was coming down a steep hill and the only brake I had left, broke one doing a stunt, broke so I had no brakes; rode into a front yard of a house at the end of the street that had a stop sign and jumped off the bike. The bike flipped over a 4 or so inches of retaining wall that dropped about 5 feet on the other side. The bike struck the front of a Firebird then flipped onto the hood and smashing the windshield. Like what any good teenager would do...I ran like hell! My friends and I found the bike on the side of the road about 2 hours later looking very much like a pretzel, we just left it there. I was buying a car that weekend anyways so I didn't need the bike anymore.

Speaking of crazy videos, go on You Tube and search for Danny MacAskell, that guy is sick; see this as one of many video examples on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z19zFlPah-o

I wish I had those kind of bicycle skills, I could see myself doing, well at least attempting to do that kind of stuff if I was a teenager in today's society! I liked flying bikes and the more air I got the more fun it was.

Wow, I need to work on my handling skills. I would have never dreampt that road bikes would hold up to that kind of abuse. I am pretty sure I would die or my bikes would explode underneath me if I tried that.

What school is this?

Too cool for school?

Very cool videos. I can't help but think that the Fair Wheel Bikes video is doubly cool, since they do everything on pretty tricked out road bikes! /img/vbsmilies/smilies/icon14.gif

They do do some interesting things to wheels that some folks think should be special occasion or race day only wheels. I was impressed with the abuse in the other video that was put to that old junker.

I laughed out loud when the handle bars were bent back. I remember those days all to well.

Yup. I broke a friend's sister's bike frame landing a "sweet jump".

The tricks. The second video is funny. I like to watch this stuff but I'm not into doing this sort of thing. A friend of mind loves to do this. It's like a trendy street circus.
