Hi all,

There were about 50 cyclists on today's Boxing Day ride in Newcastle. We left from Broadmeadow Racecourse at around 7:00am, and headed up to Raymond Terrace, then out through farmlands, to Maitland, then back to Hexham and then to Newcastle.

All up around 110kms, at a fairly steady pace.

If anyone's visiting Newcastle, or interested in a similar ride, there will be one on New Year's Day. All are welcome - bring spare tubes, a couple of bidons, some food. There's usually a couple of comfort stops along the way.

Just turn up at around 6:45am, and either wait on one of the corners, or cycle clockwise until you see the large group travelling in the opposite direction.

Happy New Year!
:)

I'll be up there for NY =)

How far are you guys and gals planning to do on NY, and roughly what sort of pace?

Starting from Broadmeadow again?

Quite likely the same route again. Yes, starting again from Broadmeadow, same time (6:45 for a 7:00 sharp roll out).

See you then!

Joined in at Hexham Bridge and it was nice to catch up with all the old crew: Rob, Brett, Bruce, Jim, George, George's missus, Matty, the Lord Mayor Bill Cox, Ken, Kelly, and so on. Countless times I heard "What are you doing here?", but let's get real ladies and gents: a Novocastrian is always a Novocastrian regardless of where they might live.

Top ride, good company, met new friends, had fun. Happy new year guys. See at the velodrome next Saturday ;)
