Lurked here a while but thought I'd say "hi".
I used to ride quite a lot until I moved to Preston almost 5 years ago, at which point the bike got
neglected for work and bikes with engines.
Anyway, now after entering for the Manchester to Blackpool 56miler on July 20th, I've got the bug
again. I've done a few training sessions of between 15 and 20 miles, as well as riding 3 and a bit
miles each way to work and back most days for 2 weeks. I'm hoping to do 30 odd miles tomorrow,
depending on the weather and then the big one on sunday.
I'm riding a Blue and yellow Gary Fisher Joshua ZO. It's afull bouncer but has quite a good lock out
on the rear along with relatively good pre damp on the front. Coupled with some Specialised
Crossraod EX tyres courtesy of www.wiggle.co.uk and pumped to 70psi all seems pretty good.
I've stripped and re fitted the rearset, front set, front derailleur. Thought my Bottom bracket was
fubared, but it just needed tightening up
- well at least I hope so!
Incidentally, I've used Wiggle a few times - must applaud them, excellent site, prices and service!
I'm aiming to continue riding after Sunday, so that I can tone some of my flab up again - I can
already feel my legs building up and my asthma is very much better off for the excercise.
Some questions:
anyone else doing the Manchester to Blackpool? If so and you see a blue/yellow Fisher, with a lardy
bloke with very long hair - that'll probably be me - say hi and give me some encouragement.
anyone else live around the Preston area? I'd love to meet up with others for rides, on road or off,
it'll help me keep motivated rather than riding on my own - I can rapidly see that turning into
commuting and occasionals only without a riding partner.
I think that'll do for now....
